The Rising Star of the Year – Development award recognises exceptional new talent in games development and design. This award is for an individual who has been working in games development for less than three years.

Entry Criteria:
 
Please provide a summary of achievements in the games development sector, including but not limited to:
 
  • Ideas this person has spearheaded
  • Technical skills this person has acquired
  • Examples of how these skills and ideas have been successfully implemented in the development of a game.
 
The Creative Impact of the Year award recognises talent in games development and design. This award is for an individual who has been working in the games development industry for more than three years.

Entry Criteria:
Please provide examples of creative success over the last year, particularly focusing on the development, conception and design of games:
 
  • Include details of projects that the nominee has led or contributed to
  • Illustrate how this person’s involvement helped a game achieve critical or commercial success
  • Demonstrate how this person has supported their colleagues and helped others in the team fulfil their potential.
This Rising Star of the Year – Business award recognises a leading up-and-coming talent working in the business/commercial side of the games industry. This award is for an individual who has been working in the industry for less than three years

Entry criteria: 
 
Please provide a summary of achievements including, but not limited to:
 
  • Examples of exceptional achievements as part of this person’s role. This can include work across publishing, distribution, PR, community management or marketing
  • Details of titles and projects the nominee has contributed to, with examples of how their input contributed to success.
 
The Businesswoman of the Year award recognises an executive who has had a stellar 12 months in terms of driving a company forward and generating significant revenues. Nominees must have been working in the games industry for more than three years.

Entry criteria: 
 
Please provide a summary of achievements including, but not limited to:
 
  • Examples of how this person has achieved commercial success over the past year, with details of any practices, policies and projects they have spearheaded
  • Details of this person’s management style, and,  where possible, include testimonials from colleagues and clients in regards to their leadership talents and business acumen
  • Where possible, examples of sales figures/sales growth. These will remain confidential to the NewBay team and Women in Games judging panel.
The Journalist of the Year award recognises a European based journalist who has covered the gaming industry in depth over the last year. This award will highlight a journalist who is using their work to draw attention to success in the industry, illustrating the great moments and incredible value of the industry. Their work should be inspirational, awe-inspiring and consistently ground breaking in its approach, tone and focus. 
 
Entry criteria:
 
Please provide a summary of achievements including, but not limited to:
 
  • Examples of work - the focus can be reportage, investigation, comment or criticism. The work could show evidence of bringing newsworthy information to light, bringing a new perspective to esports, or changing the perception of the industry in a positive way
  • 1-3 testimonials from individuals within the industry as to this person’s professionalism, impact and relationships within the industry.
The Influencer of the Year award is for any European based games influencer. Nominees will have a successful channel or community based around their gaming content and commentary, through which they are driving positive engagement in gaming. 

Entry criteria: 
 
Please provide a summary of achievements including, but not limited to:
 
  • Evidence of the number of unique users, followers and subscribers on social media and streaming platforms (please specify each social media platform, i.e. twitter, Facebook etc.)
  • Evidence of engagement across social media and streaming platforms using the following metrics: likes, comments, shares
  • Examples of how this individual is positively promoting gaming and encouraging high standards and expectations of the industry through their content
  • Testimonials from other professionals or fans (both in and outside of the immediate games industry) as testament to the positive impact of this influencer as a role model in the games community 
This category will shine a spotlight on a woman who is positively contributing to the world of Esports, from players to those who are working for a broadcaster, publisher, developer, or any other organisation involved in this dynamic and fast growing sector.
 
Entry criteria:
 
Please provide details of this woman’s impact on the world of eSports – for example:
 
  • Sales figures
  • Game reviews
  • Viewing numbers
  • Social responsibility
  • Mentoring, pushing boundaries and relationship building 
 
The Career Mentor award recognises a woman who tirelessly dedicates themselves to encouraging and mentoring others in the games industry.
 
Entry criteria:
 
Please provide a summary of achievements including, but not limited to:
 
  • Details of how this person has made a different to the careers and aspirations of others
  • Examples of circumstances in which this person has supported and directly influenced the achievements of someone else.
The Games Campaigner of the Year award has been created to shine a light on women working in a public facing capacity who are encouraging the use of video games as a force for change, inclusion, education and/or improvement. Nominees will successfully occupy the space between the industry and the consumer, influencing the perception of the video games industry by the rest of the world.
 
Entry criteria: 
 
In particular, nominations should include details regarding:
 
  • Positive promotion of video games - the nominee’s involvement in positively promoting the video games industry in the mainstream media via multiple channels and mediums
  • Force for change - evidence of the contribution of the nominee’s efforts to use video games as a force for change, inclusion, education or improvement
  • Nominations should include case studies/examples of the above, and if possible, testimonials from colleagues and/or clients in support of the nomination.
 
 
The Outstanding Contribution award reflects upon the life of someone who has had a lengthy and successful career in the games industry. Winners of this will have consistently made positive contributions to the games industry, commercially or creatively, while enabling and inspiring others in the industry to succeed.
 
Entry criteria:
 
Please include examples of this person’s long term impact on the games industry. This could be demonstrated by some of the following:
  • Financial success in terms of products and the fortunes of a company
  • Exceptional creative impact in the world of development
  • Leadership within their team, organisation and/or the wider industry
  • Assisting with industry charity efforts
  • Evangelism for the games industry to the wider world, including television spots and political debates.
