Ian Valentine is a well-known UK TV Professional, renowned for inventing the “Red Button” technology on Sky. He joined Huawei in 2014, having previously been a customer of HiSilicon, and now works in Huawei Consulting. Ian’s experience includes:
• 15 years leading businesses in the Pay TV sector, responsible for many ground breaking product initiatives.
• 7 years at BSkyB in the UK, developed and deployed Interactive TV solutions, and led Sky’s R&D steering board for Interactive and IP matters. His ideas turned Sky Interactive profitable.
• Led Sky’s award winning Connected TV spin-off which developed the first OTT video content marketplace to be live on Samsung and LG Smart TVs.
• Designed and deployed the first Android based Hybrid DTT/OTT pay TV service for Russia’s 4 largest retailer Svezynoy.
• Published 2 ETSI standards and 11 Patents, and advised EU and UK governments on TV technology and strategy, as well as contributing to DVB standards.
